Mesothelioma is a form of dreaded cancer which occurs in the mesothelail lining of lungs, heart, peritoneum etc. The mesothelial cells produce fluid which lubricate these organs and protect them from damage due to friction.

It is also important to prevent household contacts of people working at factories using asbestos or workplaces where asbestos is used, for that the cloths of the worker should be washed daily.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration have laid down certain guidelines to prevent mesothelioma by asbestos regulations such as permissible level of exposure to asbestos in eight hours of work.
Regular inspection and monitoring of asbestos-containing products used at home is very important, as asbestos was very commonly used due to its certain qualities in roof shingles, insulation, flooring etc. during twentieth century.
